Although I've fallen seven times, I've stood up eight. Soccer has taken me on a roller coaster of a voyage, an experience I never regret. People have told me that I'm not good enough, that I am trash and don't have what it takes to become remotely decent at this sport. They've said that I should give up and set my focus elsewhere. I didn't listen to those derogatory statements, but instead devoted myself to developing the crucial skills in order to advance in my abilities. While in an attempt to prove my haters wrong by showing them that I do have what it takes, I ended up falling in love with the sport. I've been involved in soccer since I was six years old, under the influence of my uncle who had previously played in high school and college ball. Although I participated in the sport for a long time, it was not until my freshman year of high school that I became fully involved.
There are many wonders that I learned about myself through playing soccer. I've discovered that I am capable of being a leader on and off the field as well as that when I give my one hundred percent in game, I may become the conductor to our teamwork with my voice and vision. I have the experience of being at the top, as well as being at the bottom of the table. Although many may cherish victories the most, I am utterly grateful for every one of my defeats. The defeats that I've experienced have taught me more about myself and my sport than the victories. The rejection that I've been shown has shaped me and formed who I am today. I've enjoyed the ride that soccer has dragged me through, and I hope the expedition continues throughout college. I am determined that I have got what it takes to play college ball, and I am willing to devote myself to help others and myself become the best that we are capable of becoming.
