Lauren Mena '21 Recruiting Profile

I’m so excited that I get to play a sport that I am so passionate about.  My name is Lauren Mena, I am a 5ft 10in setter and play for Fountain Valley High School and Seal Beach Volleyball club.  2020 will be my third year on the top level team at Seal Beach. We finished the 2019 season ranked 64th nationally by PrepVolleyball. 

I also participated in competitive swimming until age 14 when I decided that volleyball was the sport I wanted to pursue in college.  

One of the reasons why I love volleyball so much is because it’s a team sport.  As a setter I am in charge of the flow of the game and am constantly encouraging my teammates on and off the court.

To help lead my team I do extra training weekly outside of club and high school practices because I know that to get the results you want you have to work for them.  My current overall GPA is 3.8 and I am considering teaching, speech pathology or physical therapy in the future. 

I look forward to continuing my education and playing volleyball at a competitive collegiate level in the future.
