Brayden Goularte ...Personal Statement
My name is Brayden Goularte, Class of 2022. I am attending Whitney High School, in Rocklin, California, and play on the Varsity team. I have played soccer since I was four years old, and I enjoy playing the sport every day. I primarily play forward or center midfield, but also play wing. My vision in the game is one of my best aspects and I enjoy listening to constructive criticism to improve my game.
Through my years at WHS, I have a 4.0 cumulative GPA, while managing multiple honors and AP classes. I was nominated by one of my teachers and accepted into the National Society of High School Scholars.
For club soccer, I was apart of a very highly ranked premier team called Blues FC. Our team was an 01/02 team and dominated our league and several tournaments. Even competing in some tournaments with 00s. Our team ranking capped off at #21 in USA/CAN and #2 in Northern California. Even as an 03, I was able to be a starting player and compete at the level of all of the other age groups we faced.
During the 2021 spring high school soccer season, I was a starter on the varsity team. Our high school competed in D1. I made a very big impact on the team. As the highest scorer on the team I made 1st team all league, team offensive player of the year and nominated as player of the week by the Sacramento Bee.
I am looking forward to continuing to play and hopefully continue my journey in college.

Good in tight spaces, and makes good use of moves to beat defenders. Finishing - Has a knack for being in the right places, looks to score, and has the ability to finish. Tactical Abilities - 92 / 100 Field Spacing - Highly active and involved in the attack. Gives good distance of support and passing angles for teammates. Reading The Game - Does well seeing the first level of pressure and making appropriate decision on the ball. Physical Abilities - 95 / 100 Speed - Great speed overall, in particular when running into space. Will be an important asset going forward. Explosiveness - Great quickness and explosiveness, especially in the first step or two. Mental Abilities - 95 / 100 Resistance To Stress - Maintains composure in pressure situations. Great job staying focused on the task at hand. Confidence - Great confidence, didn’t shy away when challenged at camp and played with a sense of urgency. Coach's Comments Brayden brought a sense of professionalism and leadership. Being the most dominant player at camp in my opinion, Brayden showed very well of his strengths and what he can bring to a program. Being the leader in scoring, his prowess and willingness to want to score the goal was his standout attribute. His athleticism and speed were lights out. As you go up the ranks CBs will find ways to nullify speed so to add an extra element to your game would to learn the skill of shielding properly and bouncing the ball back to your midfielders to immediately run in behind like what you do well. As the game gets harder and harder to score being comfortable and mastering the different types of looks you will get in a game are what separate wins from loses. At the next level you may only get that one chance and from my experience nearly 85% or higher are shots from angles. Train these and understand more about where the goalkeepers set and understanding the weakness point will make you that much more lethal. With every striker I have come across at the higher levels it is all about how you keep yourself in the game and confidence at its highest. It's so easy to start doubting your abilities when you miss an open net, or a sitter. But it’s the best in the world that live by the term “next-play” to keep their confidence high and make sure to finish the next opportunity and be the hero.
