My name is Jake Tyberg. I play for Placer United on the ECNL 05/06 team. The coach of our team is Joel Williams (also Head Coach at Whitney High School).
My sophomore I also had the incredible experience of playing for the Whitney High School NorCal State Championship team. As the only sophomore on the team, I grew as both an athlete and a student. The older boys were exceptional players to learn from and I also saw how focused they were academically. It was a great environment and I plan to continue with this mindset. In 2022/23 our team placed 2nd in the Sac-Joaquin Section and qualified for the NorCal State Championship playoffs. Currently my GPA is 3.8 and I am working to improve my GPA through the AP classes I will be taking over the next 2 years.
My primary position is either the 4 or 5. I am equally confident on either side and in playing the ball with either foot. I have also played outside back and am comfortable playing 2 or 3 as well.
My strengths are: 1. Reading the field and finding the best option. 2. Defensive positioning for myself and the team. It is my responsibility to direct the team from the backfield to make sure everyone is in position. 3. Speed and pace. Able to quickly transition and chase down opposing players. 4. Aerial plays both offensive and defensive. 5. Speed of play. I pride myself on making quick decisions and delivering the ball on target.
In college, I plan on majoring in Kinesiology, Exercise Physiology or a related field which will allow me to pursue a career in Sports Medicine. I look forward to speaking with coaches to find a competitive college team which is a good fit academically to help me reach my goals.
