My name is David Sheptovitsky. As a junior at Weston High School, I am a member of the of the Varsity Soccer team, which just won the Patriot Division of Southwest Connecticut. Soccer is a big part of my life and every day I watch countless games on television, which help me to analyze the players’ movements, especially those in my position. It improves my soccer I.Q so that I can develop the mental part of the game, which I can then transfer on to the field.
As an attacking midfielder I like to dictate the pace of the game and find gaps in the defense, which I can then exploit with a pass and allow a teammate to score.
I have been a member of the Varsity team since I was a freshman and I feel as though this experience has made me tougher and has given me some personality when I am on the field. Also, I am part of the Everton America program and make the most out of playing and learning when facing opponents of the same age. During my Everton season I managed to contribute 5 goals and 8 assists for the team in 14 games.
I always dreamed of playing soccer in college. There was a point in my soccer career when I realized that without soccer in my life I would not be the same person or have the same ambitions. I enjoy every second that I play whether it’s working hard for the team, mentally reading the game, or unleashing my technical ability. The opportunity to be able to continue playing soccer competitively, but on a higher scale, would be everything I want. I would give any college, at any level, my fullest commitment.
Every Friday I go to soccer pick-up games at Chelsea Piers in Stamford, CT. It often gets quite competitive, but any chance to play soccer and improve my game outside of practice is something I will always be involved in. That is why I feel I am very coachable. I listen to advice my coaches give me because I know they are working to make me the best player I can be.
I am currently working on a highlight video for the upcoming Varsity season.
