Personal Statement
My name is Brendan Cook and I am a class of 2020 soccer player. I have had success both academically and athletically and I hope this will help me to reach my goal of studying engineering and playing soccer at a college that is right for me. I have been playing at the club level since I was 12 and I have been successful with my middle and high school teams. On my middle school team, I was captain both my 7th and 8th grade years. With the high school, I was the starting center midfielder as a freshman and second team all-conference as a sophomore. Unfortunately, I missed my junior season due to injury, but I have since made a full recovery and am now the captain. I am also a starter and a leader on my club team, the second ranked team in the state.
This past semester, I earned a 4.0+ GPA with an average of a 103 out of 100 and scored a 1510 on the SAT. I am a member of my school's chapter of the National Honor Society where I was voted onto the service/leadership team and I was recently selected to the OSCAR program at Delaware State University where I work alongside the professors in the research lab. Last summer, I was selected for the Governor's School for Excellence, an exclusive summer residential program for a small number of "academically and artistically talented Delaware high school students." I would be happy to provide additional information upon request and I look forward to connecting with anyone interested in learning more about me. No cap.
