For the past three years I have played in the Development Academy at Florida Rush in Orlando, against the best teams in Florida. I think for everyone on my team, we all work hard, we all spend a lot of time at practice, but I think I am one who has to give up a bit more than most. As someone who lives in Gainesville, Florida everyday I have to get up early, go to school, leave school and drive over an hour and a half to practice, getting there early as my brother has practice first. I eat dinner in the car, I do my homework in the car, and often do not get home until near 11pm. This, however, is not an issue as there is no place I would rather be than on the field, learning and being with my teammates.
I think I am different than most other players for several reasons. First, I have not exactly had my growth spurt yet and with a December birthday I tend to be one of the smaller players on my teams. As a goalie this has made me have to learn to play with no fear, a lot of technique, using my speed, and I think when I get my growth spurt it will just make everything easier. Two, I have had great coaching, especially goalie coaching. If you watch my video I think you will see that I am fully committed to playing out of the back, as we never just punt the ball down the field. I think with my speed playing sideline to sideline and my ability to pass that I am really an extra sweeper on the field. Three, I commit all of my time off of the field to soccer and conditioning. I am often conditioning away from the field, I follow our teams' DA nutrition play, I am always watching soccer videos on YouTube, and I even listen to apps to make me more mentally strong. Finally, I think I am the most competitive person I know. While everyone likes to work hard at games, for me a scrimmage on a Tuesday night in February is life and death and there is never a second playing in any practice anytime that I am not treating it exactly like a game.
I am really happy with the improvement in my game. This summer (2019) I won the Gatorade Will to Win Award at the Appalachian State ID Summer Camp, as well as sharing the Golden Gloves Award at the Exact 50 ID Camp in Atlanta, Georgia. I was very happy with these accomplishments as these were both large camps and about 95% of all kids there were either Juniors and Seniors while I just finished 8th grade. Most recently I just finished a week in London as I was training with Chelsea's Academy, after being invited as one of the top 400 players this past year in the Development Academy at my age group.
