My name is Camryn Quinn and I am a rising Junior in the class of 2025 at Panther Creek High School. I’m a distance runner, looking for a Division I college program at a school with strong academics in North Carolina or surrounding states. I run XC, Indoor and Outdoor track competing primarily in the 5k, 3200, 1600 & 4x800.
I have loads of potential, with just 2 years of experience in competitive running. I’m fully committed, and you will find I’m of the most driven and determined in both academics and athletics. I did not run competitively in middle school and I don’t have the experience that some of my colleagues have, but that also means I am more likely to continue to make larger improvements on my times as I gain more experience in fitness and race strategy.
In my freshman year, I joined the team with a goal to simply be in the top 7 varsity group, a strong 4A team made up of primarily upperclassmen. I reached my goal the first race and finished my first ever XC season on both All Conference and All Regional Teams. Sophomore year I worked on getting stronger and building up milage. I added a weekly strength training session with a local DI college runner certified in fitness who taught me to incorporate injury prevention conditioning. I made big jumps in time in all of my events from my first year and stayed consistent when I made those jumps. I’ve proven myself as a leader, a continuous contributor to the team both in points scored and a radiator of positivity.
Going into my junior year I have set ambitious, yet realistic goals. Every goal I have set, I have reached, and had the next one lined up to work toward. I’m very excited to see what the XC season brings as I jump into finding the right college program to continue my career. Academically I have a 3.92/4.0 GPA (4.22/5.0 weighted) taking Honors and AP classes. I find I am just as competitive in the classroom as in my sport.
I look forward to meeting coaches, learning about the programs that may be a good match for me and visiting the colleges to determine next steps in my future.
-Camryn Quinn
