Personal Statement
My whole life has been about overcoming other people's perceptions. I was born premature and had to struggle from the beginning. I've always been told that I am too little, too young but I have always overcome. When I was six, I wanted to play soccer at a higher level so I trained three times a week for over a year with a competitive team two years my senior even though I couldn't play in games. When I got the chance to join my first competitive team, I found my true passion; goalkeeping. After my rotation in the goal, I never wanted to leave. I had great coaches that made sure I kept my foot skills sharp and as a result I have a phenomenal sweeper keeper mentality. Coaches often comment on my ability to remain cool under pressure and my footwork on the ball. Off the pitch, I skipped the seventh grade. I started high school at 13 years of age. I even played on the junior varsity soccer team as the youngest, shortest keeper/player in the district. I was chosen for a U12 travel team that came in 3rd at the tournament in Nottingham, United Kingdom. My NPL team qualified for Nationals in 2017 and my ECNL team qualified in 2019.
My long term goal is a career focused on the game I love. As a major, I am undecided but have interest in marketing, communications or business. I am also considering a gap year after high school in which I will continue to play club and let my physical body grow. I don't shy away from challenges but face them head on.I focus on what I can control in the classroom or in training. I understand the time and effort that must be sacrificed to achieve my goals.
