Personal Statement
Hi, I'm Emma! I am a 2025 setter from Orlando, Florida who, quite honestly, loves being a student-athlete. I am a very dedicated person so I love to challenge myself on the court, and in school. I hope to find my college home in an academically rigorous school.
This high school season I played as an outside hitter on the varsity team. Throughout the season, I was able to develop my serve receive and attacking skills, much more than usual as a setter. It was so fun and allows me to better understand the experience of my hitters. Last year and the year before, as a freshman, I have played all around as setter and hitter. This experience has taught me many things which I hope to continue using in my career to come.
Through playing volleyball I have learned that the only way to overcome failure is to keep trying. Also, a challenge won't go away so I have to consistently change in order for something to become a habit. Multiple coaches have mentioned my ability to encourage others and stay positive as good traits, leading me to many leadership positions including the current team captain of my club team.
I also consistently weight train to help my strength and jump even during the off seasons. This has led me to have a 26.8" vertical jump, which I am still working on. Being a setter, this jump allows me to attack in front row when no one is expecting.
Finally, in school I challenge myself constantly with the most rigorous courses and achieve high grades in all of them! My GPA is a 4.618 on a 4.0 scale. I plan to continue pushing myself to the highest standards in school, and on the court.
Thank you so much for time, and I wish you the best!
