My name is Edlin St. Vil, and I am originally from Les Cayes, Haiti. I moved to the United States after my American family invited me to come to the states for a better education just over three years ago. There are many reasons I feel I would make a good college soccer player, teammate. and student.
I try to always exemplify a positive attitude both on and off of the field and lead my team by example. I try to stay focused on what is important to me: faith, family, school and my contributions to team sports.
Athletically, I am a physical and fast player. I run the 40 yards in 4.5 seconds. I have always played soccer, although not always in an organized manner. In Haiti, we would play where ever we could and with whatever we could use for a ball. We always had so much fun. I learned most of my skills there, but have been working hard to develop and grow as a team player in the States. I am dedicated and work hard daily to improve as a player. I always give 100% to my team.
Academically, I have to work extra hard to succeed and do well. When I came to the States in 2014, I spoke little English. It took me longer than the other students to understand because of my language. In Haiti, we only went to school half days and some days we missed school altogether. I am so grateful for this opportunity to learn at such a wonderful school and want to take away as much as I can. I hope to continue this at the next level in college when I graduate.
Thank you for the time you're giving me and for the potential to play a sport I love at the next level.
