Hello, my name is Jackson Joyner. I am a senior at Ola High School located in McDonough, GA. I am a player for AFC Lighting 19U NPL Team in Peachtree City GA. My goals are to continue my education at a collegiate level while also playing soccer! I am extremely focused with improving my athletic abilities and also value my academics.
Ever since I was young, I have always been extremely competitive. I could never settle for ‘average’ or ‘mediocre’. My Dad always preached to me to 'be the best at whatever I was involved in". I always try to put forward positive effort! I remember a quote from basketball player, Kevin Durant, " Hard work beats talent, when talent does not work hard”. I just like that quote, it speaks to how I feel when I am training, playing soccer, or even in my studies.
I feel that my hard work in school and travel soccer have given me a great exposure of what I need to fo to continue to be a successful college athlete. I’ve proudly watched my older sister, Jurie Joyner, who had a great softball career at UPENN. I know the sacrifices a college athlete makes and understand the work-load and its payoffs.
If I chose to attend college just for academics and not play on university soccer team, I would not be able to walk by the soccer field without feeling regret. I love the sport and competition too much to watch from the sidelines. I am always open to any tips or criticism and pride myself on being a coachable player. Thank you for your interest!
