Personal Statement
I started playing soccer in my local youth leagues when I was 7 years old. Although soccer is not a popular sport where I live, I quickly learned that it was a sport that I loved and was extremely good at. As I have gotten older that love for the game has only gotten stronger as well as my determination to become a better player. Along with my local youth league, I have also played on a local travel team, my junior high team, and am a varsity starter on my high school team. As a freshman, I was awarded the team defensive player of the year. As a sophomore, I earned the team play maker award and was named all conference and all area. As a junior, I was awarded the team offensive award, was named all area and honorable mention all conference, and was asked to play on the Indiana Elite North South All Star team where I was awarded the MVP award for my team. I currently play for the Indiana Fire Juniors South. I train and play year round. I am an excellent team player, very coachable, and a leader on the field. I strive to get better every time I step on the field. My goal is to further my soccer career at the collegiate level and to eventually coach.
I am very active at my high school. Along with soccer, I also play basketball and baseball. I am active in the FCA (Fellowship of Christian Athletes), 4H, and volunteer with the local youth soccer league as a coach and referee. I would love the opportunity to play baseball at the collegiate level if a multi-sport opportunity would arise. In my spare time, I like to play paintball, play golf, to hunt and fish, and to run 5K's. I am looking for a school that will challenge me academically as well as on the soccer field. I am interested in the field of exercise science with a focus on strength and conditioning with a minor in coaching. I would like a career that would enable me to coach and work with youth soccer programs.
