Personal Statement
To me, soccer is more than a game; it is a passion, a commitment, and a true test of both effort and teamwork. From a very young age, soccer has been a fundamental part of my life and has shaped me into the person I am today. It has taught me the importance of setting goals and that it takes hard work to achieve them, and the meaning of teamwork. Throughout my time playing soccer, I have always maintained the same goal – to be the best player I can. In recent years, I have added a new goal, and that is to play at the highest college level I can.
As a player, I have strong foot skills, high endurance and work rate, good positional awareness, and precision passing. I have and will continue to work my hardest to grow as a player. I am very coachable and always bring a positive attitude to the team and to training.
Even though I just finished my freshman year of high school, I have made several noteworthy accomplishments in that time. Academically, I achieved a GPA of 5.3, and placed 8th out of 886 students in my freshman class. On the soccer field, my club team has continued to earn a place in the Great Lakes Conference. In high school, I was the only freshman player to receive an award, which was based on votes cast by my teammates and coaches, for my positive performance, mental attitude, and leadership. One of my favorite parts of soccer is the team element. I love that you meet people from all different backgrounds and with all different personalities, yet you come together over the shared love of soccer to form one, cohesive family - a family that is always there for each other and will keep pushing each other to be better on and off the field. I hope to contribute and become a major part of the soccer family at whichever college I choose to attend.
It is very important to me that the college I choose to attend not only has a strong soccer program, but also a high academic reputation. I feel that a competitive college in both soccer and academics is the right fit for me. I know that college will not be easy, but I look forward to the challenges it will bring, and I will give everything I have to excel both athletically and academically. I am looking forward to college and I believe that with continued hard work in both soccer and school, that I will be prepared to accomplish my goals of playing soccer at a high collegiate level and obtaining an excellent education.
