I am a 2023 graduate attending Dulwich College in Singapore. I have been a junior varsity starter on the team for both years. This year we came first in the ACSIS Division 1 league undefeated. I have also been selected for the BISP 7's ( a high level soccer tournament in Phuket ) two years in a row. This is where the ten best soccer players in the U15 category are selected to represent the school against some of the best schools in South East Asia. Outside of school I play for Turf City Football Club, a highly selective travel team. Our team travels to Europe twice a year to play against the top tier clubs in the world. We have played against Benfica, Liverpool, Porto, Red Star, and many other top level clubs. I play for my age group U14, and U16. Playing two years up has helped me to gain a lot more confidence and the ability to stay composed under pressure. Outside of my club, I have also gone on many trips to Europe including a trip to Wolverhampton. At Wolverhampton I trained with the youth academy of the Premier League club Wolverhampton Wanderers FC, and gained lots of new skills. I also played in a friendly game with them against Southampton FC. I was also selected to play for a Japanese team composed of the best Japanese players in South East Asia. The team went to Germany to play in the Volkswagen Cup ( a high level tournament with top tier Bundesliga teams ). There we played against teams such as Mainz, Frankfurt, Hoffenheim, and Augsburg. After the tournament I was also invited to return to Germany and train and tryout for some of the clubs. I have been a part of the ODP 2005 State Team since 2018. I have also been selected for the ODP 2005 Midwest Regional Pool.
I am a very good student and take my education very seriously. I am interested in sports science and sports medicine as a possible major in university. This is partly due to me taking the PE IGCSE course. At my school, I also take part in several extra curricular activities. In the first semester alone, I played basketball, badminton, and soccer. I also participated in the Math Beta Club, assisting younger students who struggle with math. I am also apart of the Student Athlete Support Programme (SASP).This program selects the top 5% of athletes in my school, to insure that we meet our full potential academically and athletically. The SASP programme provides one on one mentoring, individual training programmes, and guest lectures by former professional athletes, nutritionists, and trainers. My favourite part about SASP is the individual training programme. Thanks to the specific training programme made just for me, I have seen great improvement in my goalkeeper performance. I hope to join a university that will maximize my soccer potential, and help me thrive academically. Thank you for taking the time to read this.
Sincerely, Kai Yamamoto
