My goal is to play soccer at any collegiate level at any school size, while earning a BA in Computer Science or Math related major. Just playing at the college level will be a major accomplishment for me personally. My soccer play is aggressive, physical, energetic, and intense. I prefer to use speed and power versus dancing and fancy moves, but I still have the agility and quickness to handle the ball and steal the ball from opponents. I try to play smart and unpredictable, making calculated passing and dribbling decisions. My passes are very accurate and long balls strong and I have an excellent shot when given the opportunity. My main strengths are accurate passing, heading the ball and taking on strikers one-on-one. I'm definitely a defensive minded team player, but go on the offensive in the right situation. I prefer to see my teammates score, providing them opportunities, but I'm not afraid to take a shot if its there. I'm a hard worker in training and games, trying to keep in best shape as possible and dedicated to improving strength and conditioning.
I began my club career about 10 years ago and been with my current club 8 years. I was a good center mid my first 4 years, getting many assists and some goals. I was moved to defensive by my new coach because of my one-on-one skills and openings on a top team. In 2019 my 16U team won the Iowa State Cup and advanced to 2020 regionals, but they were cancelled and unfortunately the team was disbanded the next year. I've been playing up in 18U-19U since then. Playing against older, stronger players has really improved my game. I've been asked about ODP, and I did not play due to involvement in club swimming and baseball. At the time soccer was not my 'main' sport yet, so ODP seem to be an overload. I stuck with swimming along with soccer, competing in some high school Varsity level swimming events my freshman and sophomore year. I decided to forgo my junior year to focus on soccer, but swimming helped my physically and taught me how to prepare and compete.
In high school, my freshman year soccer was cancelled due to covid. My sophomore year, I made the varsity squad of 22 at Linn-mar HS, a 3A (top class) school in Iowa out of over 100 tryouts. Midway through the year I earned a starting spot and started the 4 remaining games including 2 sub-state games. I'm looking forward to my Junior year in HS, I've improved greatly this fall/winter club season. Our team has a good chance to qualify for State this year. I'm also looking forward to my last club season, continuing to improve my skills.
Academically, I earned my Academic letter in both 2020 & 2021 and should get it again 2022. I like school and my classes, definitely prefering in-person instead on online classes. I also am involved Future Business Leaders of America participating in National competitive events and volunteer work. I'm also a Life rank Scout in a Boy Scout Troop and volunteer with our charter church, which has helped me build good character and taught me life skills and to be a good team member. I plan to get my Eagle Scout Rank this spring.
