Jose Segura '22 Recruiting Profile

Hello, my name is Jose Segura.

First of all I want to thank you coach that is taking time to read my statement. I was introduced to soccer at a very young age by my family, mostly by my dad. Soccer has always been there in my life and as time went by, my passion for it grew more and more. It was not until Freshman year in High School that I decided I wanted to play soccer in college. What influenced my decision was my family and my passion for soccer. My parents sacrificed so much to give me a better life here in the U.S, and I want to help them by getting a scholarship for both soccer and academics so my parents won’t have to worry about paying for college. Also, my passion for the sport has driven me to make this commitment. Every day I wake up before everyone does and put in the work that nobody else does. I have come a long way since Freshman year, I went from the slowest Freshman who didn’t even start to captain of the J. Varsity team, and getting pulled up to varsity in the same season. Throughout these three years I have learned discipline, respect, effort, positivity, and that anything is possible. I would say I have overcome many obstacles throughout my High School career. I have gone from a 2.8GPA to a 3.8GPA. I have gone from the slowest to one of the fastest players in my team. I have gone from the worst defender to one of the best in both my school and club teams. At the end of the day, I have accomplished all this through effort and positivity, which is all I’ve ever known. I would say my unique characteristics are that I will never be outworked by anybody on my team, and I will not stop or quit  till I accomplish my dream to play soccer in college and give my family a better life, wether it be through soccer or academics.
