Lorenzo Tognetti '23 Recruiting Profile

I’m Lorenzo Tognetti and I'm an Italian exchange student in Buckley High Schools, MI. I’m 17 years old and I will graduate from Buckley in 2022, but I will graduate from my Italian school, Liceo Classico Pellegrino Rossi in Massa, 54100, in 2023, since we have 5 years of high school instead of 4. I’m currently playing for the Buckley Bears in Division 4 of Northwestern Conference and we have already won both conference and district, going 10-0 in the conference with an overall record of 16-4-1, even though I was able to come to Michigan only when the season was already begun and at the time the team had a record of 1-4. I play as a center back and I’m one of the captains of my team, thanks to my leadership. I'm 5’11’’ and I weigh 167 pounds. My strengths are headers, slide tackles and reading long balls in order to be able to anticipate the striker. I like to play the ball and build the play from the goalie kick, but I’m also able to play switches and long balls. I also kick penalties. This season I scored 4 goals and provided two assists, one of each against Leland in the district final, while achieving a clean sheet in 5 games and getting 16 goals scored on. My last Italian club was Lido di Camaiore, which competed in the Tuscany regional championship, even though last year we only played 6 games because of Covid-19 restrictions. Playing soccer and studying in the States has always been a big goal for me and I'm highly motivated to make it happen!
