Marcel Munger '17 Recruiting Profile

My name is Marcel Munger. I am 16 years old and a senior at Croswell-Lexington High School. I am the youngest of four brothers, and I have been playing soccer since I was four years old. I played with my brother’s U-9 travel team at the age of six.  At age twelve I played for FC Nova 00 Black and continued until age fifteen.  I was a member of the Michigan ODP team for two years in 2011 and 2012.  In 2015 I joined Waza East 00 Black U-16 team.  During preseason our coach, Peter Langens,  took us to the Netherlands for a ten day trip that included practice sessions and scrimmages again European teams.  My experience there was amazing, and I feel it set our team up to win state cup at the U-16 division.  Winning state cup was a new experience for all of us and one that will always be remembered. 

Last high school season I was a starting midfielder and leading scorer for the varsity team. I made the all-state team for Division three and first team of the Blue Water Area Conference. During the high school season I was team captain and voted the best offensive player with 20 goals and 23 assists.

Another sport I play is basketball. I am the starting point guard for the varsity team. In the past have been on the golf team as well but will not plan on playing this year in order to focus on soccer.

Academically, I feel I learn quickly and most subjects come easy to me. My current GPA is 3.7 and recently scored a 1200 on the SAT.

In my free time I enjoy golf, frisbee golf, singing and snowboarding.

It has been a dream for me to play for a university and compete as a top athlete. I love to compete and be challenged at a high level. I feel I am coachable and willing to do what it takes to be a better player and make a difference on the team.
