Callan Baldwin '24 Recruiting Profile

Mississippi is a peculiar state where local football and baseball teams are spoken of with an almost religious reverence.  I am a successful two-sport athlete, playing club and varsity soccer, as well as playing center field for our varsity baseball team. However, my true passion is soccer.  Our coaching in Mississippi is diverse and knowledgeable with a combination of home grown, British, South American and Caribbean coaches who carry with them amazing knowledge and experience.  I have benefitted immensely from this environment, gaining a better understanding of the anticipation, quick decision making and fundamentals that are required to become an elite defensive specialist.  I typically reside at center back, though I play outside back and defensive midfield when playing up on older club teams.  I have become adept at orchestrating the back line with an intensity focused both on shutting down attackers and transitioning up field.  For me, there is no greater sense of accomplishment than leaving the pitch with a nil on the opponent side of the scoreboard.
