My name is Benjamin Adejoh, I am from Kaduna State, Nigeria. I started playing soccer when I was a child at St Matthew's Catholic Church where I worship as an Altar Server since I was 13 years old. I was a striker before I became a goalkeeper. We went to a soccer game and we didn't have a goalkeeper and I was the only sub remaining so i had no choice but to go in as a goalkeeper. I did pretty well and that made me have a passion for goalkeeping although I hate it when I get scored on. I wanted to improve so badly, so I went ahead and joined a soccer team (Methodist Soccer Club), so that I could get more experience, exposure and confidence as a goalkeeper. I continued playing soccer because I really love the game. Aside from my passion for it, it brings unity and makes you meet new people from different cultural backgrounds and you make friends with them. I really want to play soccer in college because I want to be an educationally sound athlete and college sports in general guarantees that.
As a goalkeeper, I am very good at 1v1s, coming off my line and crosses. I have good power, explosiveness, good diving and service ability. I always strive to be a very bright student in school, so I could fulfill my dream of becoming a pilot. During my exchange year, I earned a Spirit of Excellence Award and was inducted into the National Honor Society. While in the US, I was able to visit a pilot school in St Louis. When I sat in the cockpit, I was really happy and could begin to see my future. I was also able to carry out 60 hours of community service which has had a great impact in my life. I have been able to do more community service since I have been home. I also played soccer for Parkway South High School and was awarded St Louis Suburban All Conference ~ First Team Goalie.I also played Club Soccer at Lou Fusz, indoor soccer at Vetta and a ten-week goalie clinic with coach Tom Fuller - which was a really fun experience. My teammates and coaches describe me as a smart, passionate and respectful player. They appreciate that I motivate my teammates and calm them when necessary.
