My name is Ayo-Oluwa Makinde (Ayo) and I am a 6’1”, 205lb experienced and skilled soccer player. I have been playing soccer since I was 3 years old and fell in love with the game and have been playing ever since. I have also participated in wrestling, baseball, basketball, and football, but soccer has remained my favorite. I love all aspects of the game including the technical, strategic, and physical. My strengths include being good on the ball, being able to read the game well, and delivering precise passes. I am strong and I know how to use my body physically to my advantage. I am a versatile player, able to play multiple positions as needed, willing to play wherever my team needs me to play. Although I am strongest at forward and midfield, my coach has put me in defense on a few occasions as there was a need and I was able to deliver. I am a reliable player, I am coachable, respectful, and willing to do what it takes to continue to develop. I maintain a positive attitude and can roll with adversity. Dependable and willing to put needs of the team first.
I have played on the NE ODP team for three years, most recently in 2020. My club team won the NE State Cup in 2020 and currently playing in the National Premier League. I also made the Varsity High School team as a Freshman, unable to play due to COVID.
I am looking for a college that will challenge me academically and on the pitch. I am still narrowing down what I want to study, but have an interest in sports medicine and/or sports management/business. Playing soccer in college has been a dream of mine since I started playing. I believe I could use my strength, skills on the ball, and IQ of the game to help my team be successful.
