Personal Statement

Heart is a trait that cannot be taught.  The ability to dig deep and take everything you have, and leave it all on the field in order to make a difference and win the game, is something that comes naturally to me. While having great technical abilities is important, it only travels so far in winning soccer games. The most important aspect is the unteachable will to win the game, no matter the situation. To always believe you have a chance, and never give up until you can't give anymore. Growing up, I have always been taught to give everything I had until the very end, to never quit, and I believe that is the most important trait a player can have on the field. This mentality is one that I will never forget, also because I can use it to achieve my goal after college of enlisting in the Navy and being a Navy SEAL.

Along with the will to win, leadership and being vocal on the field also goes a long way as well as physical and mental toughness. Being the captain of both my school and club teams, I have to set an example and lead on and off the field. This is where good character plays a big role in establishing who I am as a player and a person. Character is who you are when nobody is watching you. This is the time a person finds out who they truly are, and I believe and have been told that I have very good character.  Playing mainly Sweeper or Center-back, I also have had to be very vocal on the field while communicating with my teammates about marking and coverage, and I always try to maintain a positive attitude when communicating with my teammates.

Academically, I have maintained a 3.9 out of 4.0 gpa and am currently ranked 18th out of 261 students.  Leading is a very important attribute that I display as well, and doing the right thing all the time is one of the many things I preach. This is why I aspire and believe that I can play at a high and competitive level of college soccer, and would be an asset to any team that would afford me the opportunity to play.

NCSA COLLEGE RECRUITING®

NCSA College Recruiting® (NCSA) is the nation’s leading collegiate recruiting source for more than 500,000 student-athletes and 42,000 college coaches. By taking advantage of this extensive network, more than 92 percent of NCSA verified athletes play at the college level. The network is available to high school student-athletes around the country through valued relationships with the NFLPA, FBU, NFCA and SPIRE. Each year, NCSA educates over 4 million athletes and their parents about the recruiting process through resources on its website, presentations of the critically-acclaimed seminar College Recruiting Simplified, and with Athletes Wanted, the book written by NCSA founder Chris Krause.
