Hello, my name is Sean Milelli and I am from Marlton, New Jersey. I am currently a senior who attends Cherokee High School. I have been playing soccer since the age of 8 and have played at the varsity level since sophomore year while also making JV my freshman year when I attended Randolph High School.
I have played with the Medford strikers since I was 12 coming in as a winger. Over time, I started to become an outside back which lead to me playing left back. Over the span of the years I've played with the club, I have been able to switch back and forth from both sides playing about 4-5 different positions. When I was 14, my family and I ended up moving to north jersey for personal reasons. Throughout this two and a half year period in north jersey, I stuck with my club in Medford. Being in a different part of New Jersey, I was able to impress the Varsity coach during middle school. Before making my return back to Marlton, NewJersey, my team had the opportunity to travel to Spain for a two week period. During the time we spent in Spain we played 6 games, one being against Rayo Vallecano's academy and another against Atletico Madrid's academy. I learned many from this trip that stick with me today, this includes the different style of play, culture, and environment. When we returned, we have been greeted with intense practices involving Carli Lloyd and recently Julie Ertz. These two top class players have a great influence on me through their experience. Our club consists of practices all year round.
During my junior year of high school in 2019, I was greeted with a avulsion fracture in my inner hip (lesser trochanter of femur) leading me sidelined for the season. Prior to this injury, I have never broken a bone and been injured to this scale. I was on crutches for around 3-4 weeks and went through 6-8 weeks of pt. That year, I was able to impress my coach at Cherokee High School through the summer league games I played before my injury. Without trying out, I was selected for the varsity squad and was able to play the last game of the season which was our first playoff game. Although we ended up losing, I was able to take away many positives as to what I would need to work on to prepare myself for club soccer as it was starting up.
When talking about skill, I have a good first touch, a broad range of passing skills and very elusive in tight spaces. I am a very reliable linker and aggressive when I need to be. I am also very reliable when serving crosses with both of my feet, and unpredictable when moving forward. I am also a very versatile player. I am able to play multiple positions as well as being able to play on both sides of the pitch while still maintaining my consistency. I have very good tactical intelligence. I am very good at getting available for a pass and tracking back to defend while being able to work tirelessly throughout a game. I love to empty the tank and push myself to the very end. When speaking about mentality, I have a learning mindset. I am able to take information and use it in my game. I also have a strong mindset. When I make a mistake during practice or a game I move on and learn from it. I am a key assets that my team values. Everything I do on the field is with passion and loyalty to my teammates and coach.
At the end of the day, academics come first. I have great grades, a good GPA, and I have a good idea of what I want to study, this being mechanical engineering. When looking for colleges, I want to make sure I am provided a strong education but also a competitive level of soccer that suites my style of play.
