My name is Ryan Johnsen and I am currently a rising Senior at St. Benedicts Prep, in New Jersey. I am interested in attending your university and playing for your team. I have a passion for soccer, my background in the sport reaches back to as long as I can remember. By continuing my soccer aspirations with you, I believe I will grow as a person and a player, and bring a positive dynamic to your program. Below are some reasons to why I should be considered.
Playing soccer in college to me is something that I’ve always wanted to do. Training consistently at a high level along with experiencing new aspects of life through soccer has been such a significant part of my life, pretty much to the point where I couldn’t imagine not being involved in the sport in the future. For example, the game has affected my daily habits and personality. I have developed a healthy lifestyle, a very competitive personality, and the drive to challenge myself with constant improvement. The most significant part of soccer to me is that it teaches me to trust the process, push through rough times, and learn from them. I want to continue my career into college because the sport is an integral part of me, and advancing would help me improve myself on and off the field.
Being part of a team has taught me about who I am, and what I bring to the squad. By playing for you, I would be an asset to the team for many reasons. To start, I’ve always been a positive person. My first instinct is to be optimistic, even in the most challenging situations. Because of the relationships I build, this positivity frequently creates a rallying effect to where others begin to think the same way, improving the team performance. Doing this has led me to be a natural leader and team thinker. An example of this is being voted team captain of my freshman high school team. If there are any problems on the field, I am the first to offer help in a way that keeps the team spirit high. Also, I am an unselfish person overall. This means that I want what's best for the others. Another example is how I volunteered to help children with special needs learn how to play soccer. My strengths will not only help the squad on the field, but will also create an unbreakable bond for years to come.
In 4 years, I will be a 4th year university student. By then, I would like to have achieved a degree in perhaps math, business, or engineering. I would like to have earned several soccer championships with my team of which I will have captained, along with hopefully receiving offers to play professionally.
