Thompson Maidment '24 Recruiting Profile

My name is Thompson (Tommy) Maidment. I was born in Watford, England and I lived there until I was eleven years old, when we moved to Buffalo NY for my Dad's job with New Era. 

I'm a senior at Nichols High School, Buffalo NY. I am captain of the school Varsity team this season. I play Center Back and CDM. Playing Center Back and CDM I like to be dominant on defence and aggressive at the right times to win the ball back and play forward. In these positions I like to be aggressive on defence by winning headers and tackles making sure I'm the most dominant player in back line when playing Center Back and midfield when playing CDM. On offence I am composed on the ball and act as the anchor to the offence by switching the field and playing balls through to our wingers and strikers to break down the defence and score. 

I’m incredibly passionate about soccer, I love the game, I want to take soccer to the next level and play in college. I want to make a big impact on the teams I play for, whether it's by denying goals, assisting goals or encouraging my teammates and making us all better. 

What makes me different to other recruits is my work ethic, my leadership skills, and the energy I bring to the field. I have always been told by coaches in all the sports that I’ve played that I am very easy to coach and that I can implement directions and advice quickly. Recently my ODP coach called me a 'cerebral player'. 

Academics are also very important to me and I always make sure I am very focused and diligent in the classroom making sure to keep my grades up.
