Declan Sengbusch '26 Recruiting Profile

Hardworking, creative, versatile.  These are three adjectives I would use to describe myself as a player and person.  My goals are to join a highly competitive soccer team at an institution that can also support my academic dreams.   My drive and work ethic apply to both work on and off the field.  On the field, I prefer to play outside as a winger, but I also have many years experience playing in the attacking and defensive midfield role. I am a smart player who is not afraid to take chances. Being a player of smaller size, I have well-developed body awareness skills and resilience. I am a very vocal player who is not afraid to communicate with teammates, taking on a leadership role within my teams focused on positivity and creating a supportive culture. These qualities, paired with my drive earned me a starting spot on my high school’s varsity soccer team this year sophomore.

 Many experiences have helped me develop into the player I am today, including, a one week trial with Columbus Crew Academy, selection for the Mundialito tournament in Spain with the American GPS national team,training/game experience with Bayern Munich's academy coaches and teams in Germany, through the GPS Bayern ID program and qualifying to participate in the GPS national team camp. In the classroom, I continue to maintain my high honor roll status, as school is a priority and it is important to me to keep my grades high.  I am in many extracurricular activities including volunteer work, ski club, and I am a certified soccer referee. These diverse and important experiences I have earned have not only helped me develop as a player, but as a person as well. These experiences on and off the field set me apart from other players. I am confident that I would make a great addition to your team.
