Personal Statement

Having played soccer since the age of two, I have acquired both a love and appreciation for the game stemming from the wonderful players, coaches, and opportunities the sport has afforded me throughout the years.   Spoken as a universal language throughout my travels playing both in the United States and abroad,  the sport of soccer has been used as a social medium connecting my life to other people, cultures, and geographies expanding my horizons.  I personally have grown as an individual building important character traits acquired through the game such as team work, goal setting,  leadership, and determination.   Most important, with the assistance of coaches and teammates, I have managed to keep fun in the equation of the game allowing me to make the sport a part of my life.  I have also found a way to give back through my own coaching of younger children during summer camps where I have been a youth soccer counselor for the past three years, assisted in youth coaching at a local recreational league during the fall season, and participating in teaching children in Harlem New York the game of soccer. 

From an athletic point of view, as an effective attacking mid-field player, I have been described by coaches and teammates as en extremely confident and collected demeanor with strong technical and tactical skills serving as a  threat for all teams we played.  Coaches have expressed that my vision of the entire field at all times coupled with my ability to have a strong sense of how plays can unfold strongly enhanced the overall performance of all teams I have played for.  My performances over all years played will show extremely strong statistics which helped all my teams obtain top standings and achievements.   Equally important, as a captain of many of my teams over the years, I have viewed my role on and off the field as a leader.

My goal for soccer if many fold, but at the forefront of my decision making is my aspirations of finding the strongest academic institution whereby my higher education can be fostered similar to the way soccer has in my life.   I am extremely confident that my soccer abilities on a field would meet any teams criteria, yet my academic drive and character both on and off the field, is my true value.
