My name is Benjamin Kjaer Olsen but I go by Ben. I’ve been playing soccer nonstop since I was four years old when I started kiddie kickers at our YMCA. I soon moved on to club soccer at NC Fusion, playing at the DA and ECNL levels since age 11. I also played lacrosse and AAU basketball for several years before focusing on soccer. Plus, I’m an avid snowboarder. I currently play varsity soccer at my high school as well as club soccer with North Carolina Rush Triad—having switched clubs for the 2024 season to give myself more opportunity to grow as a player by working with new coaches, teammates, formations, and challenges.
I love soccer. I love it so much that I also referee for the NCSRA, started a personal training business for soccer youth, volunteer with TOPSoccer for players with disabilities, and work at an indoor sports complex and soccer camp. I'm looking to play at the collegiate level and be part of a team. I am 120% committed to this endeavor and cannot imagine going to college without playing soccer.
I am a great teammate, leader, and friend. I’m highly coachable, have excellent tactical understanding, great touch, and top notch field vision. I’m also committed to academic excellence and am looking to be part of a college experience that values both school and soccer as much as I do. I've been inspired by my orthopedic doctor, who played goalie at Vanderbilt, that it's possible to combine academics and athletics and be successful. I'm currently interested in studying biological or exercise sciences with the goal of working in sports medicine with kids.
