Personal Statement
My name is Lucas Scott. I am currently a Sophomore at Millbrook High School in Raleigh, NC. I started playing soccer when I was 4 years old at the YMCA; I had a lot of fun and quickly developed a passion for soccer – something I could see myself playing through my middle school and high school years. In those early years, I learned the basics of the game and as I moved into more competitive levels, I became even more energized by soccer – from the physical aspects to the character and leaderships skills I was building – and envisioned myself playing soccer in college and even beyond.
I am a conscientious student and focused on how I perform both off and on the soccer field. I currently have exceptional academic performance (with straight A grades) and consistently serve as a role model to other players. I currently serve as the captain of my high school and club teams. I am a very coachable athlete and open to positive and constructive feedback, so I can continuously improve. I also have an indomitable spirit and have embodied resilience, which are important attributes for any sport! In addition, I am interested in community outreach, especially with young or up-and-coming athletes.
Currently, I am still figuring out what area of study I would like to focus on in college, but I have interests in Business/Finance, Law, or Engineering. Ideally, I would like to attend a college that has diverse academic offerings that fit my interests and where I can play soccer. Ultimately, I would like the opportunity to serve as the captain for my college soccer team.
