Ali Kimanthi '24 Recruiting Profile

Hello. My name is Ali Mutua and I'll tell you a little bit about myself. I am an 18 year old senior and an athlete who’s main sport is soccer. I also swim, cycle, golf and many others. I was born in Kenya and I am currently based in Grand River Academy. I believe I am a hardworking student and a committed athlete eager to learn new knowledge and skills. I enjoy challenges and being competitive. My main goal is to make it pro and I am ready to put in the hard work to achieve my goal. I am a very social person and love making new friends, which allows me to adapt to new environments smoothly.

I have played soccer for more than a decade and a half and have played in several clubs and teams. Back in Kenya, I played for my local club team that participated in various leagues and tournaments nationally. I was also the captain for the U17 and U19 soccer team for my school. Currently, I play for Grand River Academy and I am the captain of the varsity team. I have attained several individual and team achievements over the past few years. Some include; the MVP for GRA Soccer which included a certificate and trophy, the LEC All-Conference 1st Team in Soccer, Spire Spring League Champions and Spire Winter League Runners up.

I have learnt a lot over the years both in Kenya and here in Grand River Academy through several leadership positions. Being captain of the varsity of the soccer team and the interim coach for a few weeks aided me in being able to become a stronger and independent soccer player and more importantly, person. I was also the Sports Assistant in Rusinga, back in Kenya. Working very closely with the head coaches and staff. All these experiences have allowed me to adapt very quickly into new sports and social environments, and have helped carry myself at a higher degree as an individual formally when need be.
