Zachary Brunell '24 Recruiting Profile

I am the goalkeeper for 2006 Princeton FC Barcelona in Princeton, New Jersey and have been the starting goalkeeper since ‘18.  In 2022, we became the USYS Presidents Cup National Champion after winning the East Region Championship on a thrilling penalty kick shootout where I saved our opponents first two kicks.  -- https://app.veo.co/users/zbrunell/

I play and train at a competitive level year round. I have been playing at a high level for many years—ODP (‘16, ‘17, ‘18, ‘19, ‘20), High School ('20, ‘21), Maccabi Games (Baltimore ‘18, Detroit ‘19, San Diego ‘20 & ‘22).

In addition to my soccer resume, I am a top performing finisher and Captain of the Varsity Cross Country (17:26) and Varsity Track teams for Bensalem Twp High School.

I work hard, every day, on and off the field to build that trust whether it’s working hard at practice, helping a teammate get to practice, tutoring, or just socializing with the guys.  We are successful because we are skilled players and because we are a team, on and off the field. 

I stand 6’3”, weigh 175 lbs, and am a natural left.  I am a leader on the track, on the soccer field and in the classroom.  

On the soccer field, I am calm and confident in net with clean hands and quick feet.  As the last man on the field, it is vital that I be a stalwart in goal.  My size and presence in the box brings confidence and strength to my team.  As a possession keeper, I am comfortable with the ball at my feet and in my ability to build an attack. I am strong when dealing with crosses and driven balls across the 6, confident in breakaway situations, and excellent in shot stopping. By covering the space behind defense, delivering accurate driven balls, and playing higher off my line, my team is able to emphasize building from the back and pressing higher up the field.

In school, I excel in the gifted/AP program with a 4.117 GPA. I am a member of the Mock Trial team and Honor Society.

My goal is to continue learning at a selective school where I can study math/statistics and be part of a competitive track program where I have the opportunity to make an impact and to be part of another amazing family.
