I have overcome many obstacles during my high school soccer career. The most notable is during my sophomore year I ruptured my spleen after getting kneed in the stomach. I was out for that season but I learned valuable lessons on how to be a supportive teammate and how to be a leader. My strongest characteristics are my leadership abilities and how hard I work in school and on the field. These traits were shown through me and my teams success the year after the injury. My teammate was recently quoted “Kellan is always communicating and keeping our team solid as a unit... We have the utmost confidence in him every game.”
I have challenged myself with almost all honors classes and multiple AP classes. I have also been a captain of the basketball team since I was a junior and I am a captain of the soccer team currently. My determination to succeed makes me a great candidate for playing at the collegiate level. Rupturing my spleen in the first half of that game and continuing to play the rest of the game is a prime example of my mental attitude and determination.
