Personal Statement
Hello. My name is Brayden Gyza and I am in my junior year at Archbishop Wood High School in Bucks County, PA. I am looking for a college that has both an academically and athletically challenging program.
I mostly play left wing and center attacking mid, but I am able to adapt to any position on the field because I am versatile and can read the game extremely well. My club team, Upper Moreland Soccer Club United, attends competitive tournaments at Tuckahoe Turf Farms in New Jersey and had made plans to travel to Europe on June 23, 2020 to compete. We competed in the Presidents Cup where we made it to the championship, unfortunately suffering a tough loss in overtime. The competition provided through my club team has developed me into the player I am today.
I have played varsity soccer at Archbishop Wood High School since freshman year. My sophomore year at Archbishop Wood I started at left wing. This same year we went on to win the Philadelphia Catholic League Championship as well as the District Championship. Going into my junior year I had an unfortunate accident, tearing my ACL and both Menisci, forcing me to sit out my entire junior season. I have rehabbed my leg since surgery on July 2, 2019 and am excited for what my senior season will bring. I am coming back stronger and faster. I have also been voted Captain for the upcoming season and look forward to being one of the team leaders.
I am 6 feet tall and 180 lbs so I can win balls in the air and am not afraid of tackling hard. I use my body well to shield off defenders and I am skillful with the ball at my feet. I am able to track down through balls and cross them into the box.
I am confident that I can play at the collegiate level under a coach that can help me continue to develop my skill set. I am respectful, motivating, and an enjoyable teammate as well as a leader on and off the field. On the field I am a different animal and I hope you can experience this with me as part of your team.
