My name is Harlan Watson-Brown, and I am a 2024 graduate soccer player from Bermuda. I currently attend Baylor School in Chattanooga, TN.
I lost my first race; being born 12 minutes after my identical twin brother, was all the motivation I needed to always strive to outperform.
I come from a very competitive and athletic family and apply the experiences from years of competition. From the age of three, when I first stepped onto a soccer field, I’ve had a passion for team sports, while also excelling at individual sports and activities. Outside of playing soccer, continuously since that young age, I enjoy surfing, snowboarding and mountain biking. I’ve also previously represented Bermuda in swimming, but soccer is my passion.
The game is played to a high standard, at all age levels, at home in Bermuda. Combining high quality coaches from the UK and played by hard hitting and physical players, I have developed into a player who is fast and attacking, while refusing to give up and having the stamina to keep driving forward.
In addition to being named in the East v West Island School representative team, I was honored to be nominated, and ultimately runner up, for a memorial award, the Denton Hurdle award. This award is for a student who displays the following qualities: “active participation, leadership, sportsmanship, self-discipline, dedication and co-operation.”
I apply these qualities in my high school varsity and club ECNL teams.
As said by my varsity coach, “you bring a noticeable impact of energy and work rate when you come onto the field, changing the play of the game.”
