Sil Rottink '24 Recruiting Profile

I  have played soccer since I was a small boy and played in the Netherlands  (my country of birth) for a few years of my childhood, allowing me to play with the European youth teams. When my family  moved to the US I first played in Rochester NY and after our move to Germantown TN I have played club with two Tennessee state winning teams for the last five years.  With the legends 05 team we won state 2 times and with my current team, Lobos 06,  2 times (2021 and 2023), we were finalist in 2022.  With both teams we also made it to the semi finals in regionals and with both teams I  also have participated in the USYS National league every year and currently in the E64.  Playing at this level is very exciting and it also gave me as a base player a lot of experience playing on a high level. Besides this I love all the friendships I made through the sport. 

In my younger years I always played center mid but the last 4 years I have been center back, a position that really suits me.  I find myself being able to stay composed and find the right passes even when under pressure and put in the right tackles. I am 6'2 and 165 pounds so I can body people off the ball and use my 4.6, 40 yard dash to track down players on the counter. 

Some of my personal achievements are that I got selected for the Rush select national team for the last two years.  In 2022 I also got selected for an all paid trip to compete with the rush select national team in Italy. Unfortunately I wasn't able to go as it conflicted with my highschool season (in TN you are not allowed to play High School and club at the same time). Just before Covid I had been selected by ODP for the IMG trainingscamp. I also played on the ODP regional team. 

For the last two years I have  played high school soccer for the Varsity highschool team .  In my freshman year we won the state title , my first year attending.
