Ever since I was seven years old soccer has been a huge part of my life. It has made an impact on my life on and off the field; not only has it helped me improve as an athlete, but it has also helped me become a responsible young man. Even though soccer is a major aspect in my life, I have to learn to balance the sport I love with my school work. Both require a lot of time and dedication and having played at various levels of soccer, I have experienced the challenges that come along with being able to focus on school and soccer. This can often be a difficult task but it is preparing me for the challenges to come once I go off to college.
Playing high school soccer and joining a new team my junior year was a big adjustment, but I was able to adapt to the team and a new coaching style very easily. Playing the defensive midfield position has given me the opportunity to take on the role of being a leader; it allows me to have more control over the team and communicate to the players all around the field. Most importantly it has given me the opportunity to learn a new position and become a more well-rounded soccer player. In my junior year, I also joined a new club team, Solar Chelsea. On my club team I play left back and I have also taken on a role as a leader. Taking on this leadership role has given me the confidence on and off the field to take control of different situations.
With a true passion for the sport, I won’t let anything stop me from achieving my goals. I put forth the effort in my school work that I wish to get out of it. Even though I may not have all ‘A’s in my classes, my parents and teachers see that I do my best in all my work. I am committed both to soccer and to school and will do all that I can to be the best that I can be.
