My hard work, determination and desire to triumph in the goals I set for myself has allowed me to succeed in my academic and athletic endeavours. A very important part in my career was my sophomore year, as I was accepted to the Universidad de Futbol y Ciencias del Deporte (UFD academy) of the first division Mexican team C.F. Pachuca in Pachuca, Mexico.
While at the UFD academy I lived at the club’s boarding school and trained daily in rigorous sessions for six hours daily with coaches and trainers who played and coached professionally.
This allowed me to not only increase tremendously my level of play, but also further develop many attributes like commitment and responsibility which where required of us constantly. While at the UFD academy I played across Mexico. I was able to play with the UFD academy team of the Mexican 4th professional division. Although I received a contract offer from the team there to stay, I returned to the United States upon my parents' request for me to study and academically be able to go to a University in the United States. I believe these experiences of what I saw, learned, and lived during my time in Mexico help to distinguish myself and set me apart from many other recruits.
Halfway through my 2018 season, after a very successful start, I endured a severe concussion with my High school team. This led to me having to withdraw from school and soccer for recovery. I returned to the fields grateful with God and having learned to value life itself... this, with even more ambition to become better on and off the field.
I am a 2020 recruit and have made the High School Varsity team as well as PA for the Houston Dynamo. I look to continue developing myself in every aspect of my life and desire to be part of a collegiate soccer program where I can contribute to the team's success on and off the field. I aspire to play professionally after college and am dedicated and passionate about soccer because of this goal.
Academics is also a crucial part in my development as a person and is very important for me. My current 3.5 GPA is a representation of combining long hours of study, with team and personal training.
Thank you for taking the time to read about me, I look forward to meeting you in person soon!
With Best regards,
Ian de Koster.
