Nathan Karaffa '23 Recruiting Profile

My name is Nathan Karaffa and I am a left-back. I can play several positions on the field, but that is where I excel. Honestly, for me, it comes down to absolute love of the sport. I've been playing soccer since I was 3, from rec, indoor, and sand, to travel, high school, and futsal. I am a dedicated student-athlete and exceptionally hard-working team player.  I'm not afraid to work hard be it practice, training at the gym, drills, camps, games, tournaments, or just shooting around at the park. This is my sport.

I come from a line of college athletes. Both of my grandfathers played D1 basketball in college. My father not only played D1 basketball but then went on to play professionally overseas. My older brother had an offer to play baseball in college but ultimately chose the military and is now an Intel Officer in the Marines.

Currently, I’m 6’1 and 167 lbs. and very fast. In the off-season, I’ve been working hard to improve my strength, agility, and most importantly, continuing to refine my overall technical skill and ball control.

I am the 1st soccer player in my family, and I am passionate about this game and its growth in the US! I encourage my teammates to go further and work to their full potential. I'm often known for recruiting others to play pick-up games or bringing them along to be a guest player on my futsal team.

I am a starter on both my high school and travel teams. During my most recent travel season, I averaged nearly 2 goals per game, scoring 4 in our season opener.

I am also a certified USSF referee which allows me to combine my love of the sport while earning some income.
