Hello, I’m Tommy, a dedicated athlete. I play varsity soccer as a sophomore at Orcas Island High School. I also row crew, and play on the basketball team, but soccer is my true love ever since my parents signed me up for a ball skills class in preschool.
On the pitch, my speed and ball control combined with my keen awareness of the field and ability to communicate make me a strong asset to my team. I take on bigger defenders with confidence. I always push to do my personal best and encourage teammates to do the same.
Our rural island community didn’t have a club, so I worked with other athletes in the community to establish the Orcas Island FC last year. While the coronavirus has delayed us from playing any games, I continue to train daily with the team, private coaches, or on my own.
In 2019 I was a varsity starter as a freshman and our team made it to the state championships. Sports have taught me resilience, leadership, accountability, respect, and patience. Soccer is a lifetime pursuit.
I also work hard off the pitch by doing well in school, taking advanced classes, and keeping good grades. I am looking forward to continuing my soccer and academics in college.
