My name is Jacob Unger. I was born in September 2005 and I am currently attending Hamilton High School in Sussex, Wisconsin. Ever since I started playing soccer when I was 5 I have always had a love for the game. As a kid, I didn't really see the benefit of playing the sport I just enjoyed it so much that I continued with it. As I have been growing older I have started to see the real benefits of playing the sport. Every time I step on the field I look at it as a battle as well as a learning experience.
Over the years I have had several phenomenal coaches that have inspired me to be the best player academically and athletically. Those coaches strived to make me the best player I knew I could be. Each of my coaches had their own different playing style than the others. This forced me to learn those different strategies as well as adapting to new ones.
When I switched to select soccer during U10 I was always a fan of being a defender. Growing up I was always a little different due to me mainly being left-footed. When I started my select soccer career I was primarily a left-back but then later switched to playing center back in a 4-3-3 formation this past club season. Although I have seen major success in this position change, I still have the knowledge of being an outside back. This gives me the capability to play any defensive position. When given the option to play in a defensive midfield position, I maximize my impact by always giving 100% effort.
Growing up, grades have always been a priority for me which is one of the reasons why I have a 3.64 I am committed to keeping that that by not only putting in work on the field but also putting in work in the classroom. Hoping by keeping that 3.6, leaves my options open for schooling later down the road.
