Personal Statement
I am a rising senior at Greeley West High School, class of 2022. I swim for both the Greeley West team in the spring and the Loveland Swim club team year round. I started swimming when I was 6 and have loved competitive swimming ever since. I’ve been participating in the club swimming year round grind ever since I was 11. I am a very gifted butterflyer with strong legs and flexible shoulders and ankles. My 51.60 100 fly is my best event right now but I expect great things out of my senior season and am of course gunning for a sub 50. I also think I can contribute to a team in the freestyle relays and am working on finding a 100 and 50 technique to go with my 200 free. My greatest strengths are kicking and underwaters and I consider underwater kick my 3rd stroke.
I greatly enjoy being a part of a team. Practicing with people who share the same goals and me always makes me work way harder. The mutual competition and encouragement from teammates makes practice actually fun and way more productive for me. I always fill the role of the funny guy during the toughest practices and dual meets of high school season. I can usually break the tension during a tough meet or hard set.
I am a dedicated student with a 4.27 gpa and a 1410 SAT. I take challenging AP courses with ton of coursework that I have to fit in between practices and school. I want to go to an engineering school with a variety of programs because I’m interested in different types of engineering. I would also look into a 3-2 program with engineering.
