I have swam for a club team since I was 6 years old. I’ve always been athletic in general and enjoyed a variety of sports, but over the years swimming grew on me and I would like to continue competing in it at the collegiate level. As a member of my high school and club swim teams, I am striving to develop my skills by seeking out every opportunity to get in more practice. Whether it be staying late to get in another start, talking to a coach before or after practice about things that I can work on, or doing outside research on ways to improve my form or general athletic ability, I am committed to the sport.
I am a determined, calm, and coachable athlete. I am friendly, social, and cheer on my teammates. I consider myself a good teammate and a loyal friend. I love to challenge myself in and out of the classroom and strive to be the best in and out of the pool. I try to improve my technique as much as I can and spend lots of time in the weight room.
At school, I maintain a high GPA with straight As and have made the Honor Roll four semesters in a row. I take a mix of honors and high honors classes and participate in extracurricular activities and clubs. I take great pride in my academics and intellectual curiosity. Community, through volunteering and social groups, is another very important aspect of my life. This summer, I am volunteering in food kitchens to help feed people who are facing financial challenges or live in food deserts.
I want to attend a college with a strong swimming program that shares my vision for academic and athletic excellence, has a nice campus, great faculty, and even better peers. I want to surround myself with people who I know will push me to become better in every way.
