Corbin Cole '24 Recruiting Profile

Thank you to all of my coaches and my family who supported me. I am proud to announce that I have committed to Florida Southern College to pursue my undergraduate academics and college swimming.
Through elementary school, I played baseball. I liked it, was better than average, and earned  an All-Star Team Roster spot and MVP more than once. But, I didn’t have a deep passion for the sport and always felt I wanted to be somewhere else rather than on the field. Swimming was just an hour per week lesson because my parents wanted to make sure we were all safe around pools and the lake. Then, I discovered there was a competitive side of swimming, left baseball behind, and have developed a great love and appreciation for competitive swimming ever since. 

As a swimmer, I challenge myself everyday to keep a highly competitive mindset while always remaining kind and humble. My club team is one of the smallest teams in southern Nevada, so I have learned to adjust to the unique pressures of often being the only NLVA swimmer in my division finals among all others from some larger, more recognized clubs. I have overcome self-doubt and have learned to persevere with rigorous training and mental toughness. Despite the small team size, I am grateful to have coaches and teammates who have helped me grow as an athlete and a person both in and out of the pool.  

I look forward to attending a college that will continue to challenge my performance and allow me opportunities to develop athletically and academically in a supportive environment. While I want to pursue education and degree(s) in sports psychology, I am also intrigued with the possibility of eventually becoming a graduate assistant swim coach and continuing to learn about the sport that I love from the college coach perspective.
