Currently (start of the 2023-2024 season), I have 50bk qualified for the Canadian Olympic Trials and 50bk, 100bk for the Canadian Swimming Championships (Nationals). My goal is to improve my 200bk, improve my breaststroke, and try to get 8-10 events at a provincial level, while having 3-4 national times. What sets me apart is my unwavering determination and discipline. Along with such a rigorous swimming schedule, I regularly practice the piano and am partaking the IB program. Thus, I understand how crucial every minute I spend in the pool, and I try to utilize every minute outside of the pool to its fullest, in order to achieve my swimming and academic goals. One big goal I have for swimming is to represent my team. I come from smaller teams. I've been a part of my first team for about 7-8 years, however, due to COVID-19, it could not survive. Now, I'm a part of York Swim Club, another very small club that is home to a group of amazing people. My coach has never been to trials for the past 8 years, and last season was the first time in a while he has gone to nationals. It makes me feel so happy to represent my team and let people know that my club is strong and ambitious. We may not have all the facilities, the budgets, and the connections, but we will still win! It would be a dream if I could stand on a national podium and represent my team and let everyone know who Louie Yin and York Swim Club are!
