Personal Statement

Swimming has been a part of my family and my life for as long as I can remember. My mother swam for one of the most successful high school programs in the county. My older brothers and sister all competed at the PA State and Sectional levels. My brothers all went on to compete for top D3 programs. In short, swimming is ingrained in my family and my life.

I am looking for a swimming program that shows consistent time drops in their swimmers. I perform at my best when I have a chase; this pushes me past my limits in and out of the pool. For example, this past year I switched club teams to the #5 ranked club in the country for the 2018-2019 season. Being part of such a storied program has already helped me swim faster in season times than my end of season taper last year. Focusing primarily on freestyle in 2017 my coaches have been training me to be a well-rounded swimmer with a focus on the 200 IM, 100 fly, and 100 back. Across these 3 events, I have dropped 9 seconds in the 200 IM, 8 seconds in the 100 Back and 7 seconds in the 100 Fly over the past season.  Entering into my Junior year of High School Swimming my coaches believe in having a strong underwater breakout along with more control and balance I will drop another 5 seconds off my personal records.  I cannot wait to swim at my conferences with my eyes set on the Pennsylvania State Meet.

As a sophomore, I was elected team captain by my peers, a duty I did not take lightly. I was responsible for leading team sets, encouraging teammates to outwork their opponents and build a swim family.

I want to compete in college not only because I love the sport but also because swimming builds a schedule that will force me to complete my academic workload. I have seen first hand how making a schedule (and sticking to it) leads to academic and athletic success.

I am looking for a team that functions as a tight knit group of friends, even family.
