"Hardships make or break people." (Margaret Mitchell). Throughout many years I have participated in various sports trying to find the right one for me: from tee-ball, gymnastics, soccer, basketball to swimming. Trying different sports takes an expendable amount of energy. Swimming was that hardship that I encountered when I was younger. This sport has now been a part of my everyday life for the past six years. "Swim, eat, sleep, repeat." No matter how much time I have dedicated to any other activity, swimming has been and will continue to be the one thing that I will never let me give into defeat. There is always still someone to beat in the water, yourself.
I aspire to swim at the collegiate level, not only to succeed athletically but to enjoy my college experience as well. Moreover, I will push myself to my maximum potential and I look forward to experiencing the camaraderie of a college team. College swimming is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity that I don't want to miss. Currently, I swim 15+ hours a week, and it still is not enough for me. In addition of what is required from my coach, I lightweight train mornings before school on Wednesdays and Fridays. I have always excelled in my classes. I am a great candidate to be recruited because I am academically and athletically disciplined, a team player, a leader, and a motivator. With every stroke I take in the water, I strive for success. Like my mom has always told me, "Swim like its your last race, don't swim to avoid losing, but to win" and that is what I accomplish.
