I was brought up to stay humble, and this translated well into the sport of swimming. My swimming career began in the 7th grade, trying to balance it and football. After what seemed like a harmless decision in middle school turned out to be one of the best I've made so far. Swimming was always a release for me; the perfect time to think with the sound of the water. The team aspect is what I enjoy the most. Working with this team for the past few years has been a life-changing experience, and I look forward to be a part of a college team as well.
My most defining time would be toward the end of my sophomore year when the Mens' team took first place at the Regionals Meet for the first time in our team's history. The whole team preformed great, especially those of whom I swam relays with. It feels great knowing that I gave it my all to do the team proud, and I can't wait to do it again next year.
I do, however, take my academics, my swimming, and relaxing all as seriously as each other. So between afternoon workouts and AP/ Dual Credit classes, I still try to carve out some time with friends on the weekends. I like to look at the brighter side of things, and working with what I have. Above all, I stay true to where I came from, but keep my gaze to where I'm going. Eventually I hope that where I'm going could be could be the collegiate swim team who needs a distance backstroker.
