Robin Kiyabu '11 Recruiting Profile

My name is Robin Kiyabu, Class of 2011 attending Punahou School. I am a LEFTY at 6'3" @ 155lbs. I am a 3rd year singles starter for my Varsity Team that recently broke the National record of winning 20 State Titles (Tennis) in a row. I will be playing the #1 position in senior year. I just completed the 2010 High School State Tournament finishing 4th overall in singles. My future goal is to win the State High School Singles Title in my senior year, while leading our team to their 21st State Team Title. I started tennis at the age of 7 years old and practiced 5-6 days per week. I have a deep love for the game and am very competitive. Since 9 years old, I participated in various Winter Nationals in Tucson, Copper Bowl, California Bowl, Zonals, National Open in Honolulu, Hawaii Sectional Tournaments, and Boys 18's National Team Championship in Ilinois, and Winter Nationals in Phoenix in 2009. During the summer of 2010, I participated in the Boys 18s (Davies Cup) playing the # 1 position and Kalamazoo. Competing with the top ranked players in the country was inspiring knowing that I was able to compete with all of them. I have also attended numerous camps/academies such as Saddlbrook and ITA, both in Florida. Since the summer of 2009, I have been working with the University of Hawaii assistance coach, Ikaika Jobe (professional player), and Dennis Lajola. They will continue to work on my speed and quickness while improving my serves, forehand, and inside game. The strength of my game are the serves, forehand and the ability to control the ball movement. I have been attending Punahou School since the 4th grade which is considered among the best college preparatory educational institution. Since the summer of 2009, my game has improved both physically and mentally. I am now capable of sparring with college level players while improving the level of competition. I am a good student in school and on the tennis courts. Though highly competitive on the court, I maintain my calmness and strive toward good sportsmanship behavior. My coaches believe that I am very coach able and have a desire to improve my game. I am very confident that I can blend in well with your team and will make a positive impact toward contributing to the success of the team.  My high school team has a tremendous winning tradition, strong legacy, strong values, and dedicated work ethics. Finally, throughout my life, I spent thousand of hours on the court while my parents supported me financially toward achieving my dreams of playing tennis at the highest level.
