I started playing tennis when I was ten. I now practice every day and enjoy training with high intensity. I have seen very good progress in my game over the last year, and I am determined to continue and develop. I aim to become the best player I can be, and I am willing to do whatever it takes to get there. I understand there is a lot of work ahead of me, and I’m looking forward to it. I am excited to be a part of a team and to be coached.
Balancing my commitment to tennis and academics has tested my determination to improve, whether I need to wake up early to train before school, stay during lunch, or stay up late to make up work. It taught me how much I love the game. I am ready to work with others who share the same aspirations as me.
I started playing tournaments last year. On the court, I like to be aggressive and go for big shots. I believe my rating will go up as I am able to keep up with players who are up to 3 UTR points higher than me and still not feel out of place on the court even if I lose. I am focusing on making the right decisions when playing matches and on the things that depend on me.
I have coaching roles at NYJTL and Advantage Camp. I enjoy helping others, and especially seeing them make progress. My coaching experiences with younger kids and even kids who are the same age as me have not only strengthened my leadership skills but also reminded me of the fundamentals and I often catch myself realizing my own mistakes as I try to help others.
I am very grateful for tennis as it significantly boosted my confidence and social skills. From being a shy kid in the past, the sport has enabled me to develop my character, create connections, and improve social skills, even helping me overcome language barriers when I moved to the U.S. Through tennis, I not only improved my English but also formed friendships that broke language barriers. I made my first friends in the U.S. in the very same program I coach in today. My commitment to athletics complements my academic achievements. The life lessons and work ethic I gained on the court translate off the court into every aspect of my life, including academics. I put my academics just as high on my priority list, and I am eager to bring my passion, skills, and determination to the next part of my journey, in college.
